Monstrum sux
i have never been able to use optics on guns, and my eyes have gotten to the point where i cant use iron sights either. i never knew that the prism sights would help!!! how has no one told me this? i need to get my hands on one asap.
I dont see a use for much below 4x. For me the sweet spot is 5-6x. Yeah it can be like a red dot but that eye relief is gonna make it a no for me.
Reason there are 1x prisms is because your red dot just crapped out if there’s say an enemy emp from nuke or solar flare or whatever other means the gov has of knocking out electronics. But of course there’s the old trusty lpvo and buis in that instance
are you planning to review the new Vortex Spitfire Gen 2 3x prism scope?
Lol..3 years we went from these to 5x with clear glass and 7 ozs .. It shows how much tech grows in say 4-5 years
I ordered a primary arms SLx 5×36 and the reticle leans counter clockwise on a leveled rifle. Obviously that makes the BDC completely useless at range. You get what you pay for. Get the Acog
Great scope for me as I’ve gotten older.
You compared low end 1x’s to higher end 3x and 5x. What the hell kind of comparison is that?
On the 1x, how many times did I just count to say you don’t understand, followed by unless you have a stigmatism.
You understand pretty well, dude.
Also 3X and 5X flip up magnifiers exist .
Mounted scope rings to base then scope to rails. Took 8 shots to get zeroed. Was shooting target bottles at 100 yards after that.
I’ve had more than one scope where the turrets moved the POI rather than the POA. Which obviously is backward as you found but Monstrum is not the only one.
I loved my 3x vortex spitfire
skibde toilet
I’m stoked to receive my Bravo 3.
Astigmatism is a total MF trying to use dots. All I see is a bunch of worms/spaghetti swirled around if I don’t have Rx glasses on.
I have the Cyclops. Not a fan. No knock against PA, but it’s my least favorite thing I have from them. Illumination is useless unless it’s dark.
I’m diggin on this Sig that I had not heard of before. Thanks!
Nice presentation
Soo, I have astigmatism in my dominant shooting eye, so prism optics help so much! In my opinion I prefer a 1x magnification, just due to the fact I did time in the ARMY and it’s what we had, I can shoot out to 300 meters anyway without additional magnification. So I’m running that on a 300 blk, and running a 1-6 LPVO from Banshee on my 5.56 AR rifle. Sucky thing is you have iron sights straight down your rail, so the optic would have to be removed on the ones that aren’t a 1x magnification. I have my BUIS 45° offset
weird but i have Astigmatism and the first time i tried a red dot i couldn’t see anything just blur and the red dot is flying in the air our the sight but with the time my eyes got used to it and it works fine for me
Geez I never knew how many people had a damn astigmatism until I started researching optics.
Just fyi, Monstrum also have a lifetime warranty on their products. given this comment is being posted 4 years after this post.
Why the hell did you choose a font that looks like jizz for the thumbnail?
Be nice if there wasn’t just one fiber powered option.
One think he didn’t mention in any of the reviews was eye box and eye relief on the vortex your nose was past the charging handle cause you wouldn’t give up your stupid buis and not talking about WEIGHT
Range finding
We get it. You don’t have an astigmatism. You must have really low self esteem though if you use something that people are born with as a way to elevate yourself.
Why does YT hate me? WHYYYYYYY????
The bravo is great. I run one w a venom red dot on the side of it. It’s just heavy and to get that perfect site picture, eye has to be at the perfect spot. Muscle memory helps I guess
Take a drink every time he says he doesn’t see the point.
I bought an expensive red dot and that was when I learned I had astigmatism. Went my entire life thinking how I saw light was normal.
Bro the turrets are marked backwards. the turret direction indicates where you want to move your point of impact. Should you be reviewing optics at all?
Red dot, holographic, LPVO, prism? 🤔 What’s on your gat?
I can tell you that I have many different types of optics. My prism scope is actually a 3x(PA SLX3)and not a 1x, but my red dots (I have romeos, and holosuns, and have tried the EOTECH. I have a moderate astigmatism and the Romeo 4 and Holosun’s with the circle/dot recticle’s are usable since I can determine what the center of the circle is in relation to the dot. The DOT by itself on my Romeo 5 and MSR… It’s a red comma… not a dot so not too precise. The 1X prism seems like a better option since the prism I have remains crisp and precise, even while illuminated. My biggest problem with the prism I have is the eye relief, and the size of the tube that takes up the FOV quite a bit. But, it’s not a deal breaker since I can see clearly what I’m putting the delta tip on, and hit my targets reliably, so just small nit pick.
The Eotech was just horrible for my eye. Big ole pixelated blobby starburst. I wish it worked for me, because otherwise, I loved the look of the Eotech and the feel.
Im all about the ACOG and the Steiner T536. The sig and the primary are very heavy
Prism optics are WAY better for me. Red dots are just smudges that occlude the target, to me. Sadly.
Not happy about it.

❤I have the Vortex Spitfire 3× prism on my AR-15 Worx excellent also the Spitfire 1× prism on my AR9..❤
Kinda silly for this channel to have someone that has no use for the benefits of prism scopes, review prism scopes. I have astigmatism and nothing beats a 3x power micro prism for plinking 6-8 inch steel targets at 100-150 yards. If you have astigmatism, give micro prism scopes a chance.
I like that shot of the gun with 15 different scopes all mounted to it. That’s properly tacticool.
I am a few years late to this party. However I do have one rifle with the no magnification PA prism optic. As you guess or suggested in the video astigmatism is the reason. Even the best red dot looks like a star burst smear to my eyes.
Can confirm… "Marty S" review for the Monstrum 2x is still up on the Monstrum website to date.
I am thinking about buying a prism optic but I’m stuck on deciding between between the primary arms 5x and the Sig bravo 5. Does anyone have experience with both of these optics and if so which one did you prefer more and why?
Bravo 5 suffered for 2 reasons msrp and mount.
Monstrum is like harbor freight, things are so cheap and you can exchange it whenever because they save so much money on zero qc.
I wanna try the new monstrum 5x that’s about the same size and weight as their 2x
Well, Scooter, quit huffing beard oil take off that baby gap long sleeve T and pull up a chair. I’ll splain that whole 1X prism thing for ya. They are a thing because people with an astigmatism (yup I have that shit) would like to have a red dot alternative the doesn’t look like an exploded firework to our stigmatized looking balls.
I apologize in advance for writing a novel in the comments, but I got carried away with my angry ranting.
I’m looking for a low power prism optic (1x-2x) because I have an astigmatism that almost makes red dots and holographics useless to me outside of 75-100 yards.
My main problems with the available options are too high of magnification, or they just look straight up goofy. I know I should be more worried about functionality over looks, but some of these things are just plain ridiculous.
I can’t just run red dots on my close range defense rifles and prisms on my 100 yard+ rifles because most of my guns are versatile.
I could run a 4x prism for "long" range accuracy with a red dot on top for close range, and at this point I just might have to. But I’d like to stay away from that due to weight, cost, and size.
I do like LPVOs, and they work well for me, but again, it comes down to weight and size.
So far, my best prism optic experience comes from Monstrum. I’ve had a few prisms, LPVOs, scopes, and weapon lights from them, and for the price they retail for, they’re absolutely exquisite. I’m not nice to my guns and accessories, if you looked at them, you’d be able to tell I’m an absolute bully. And Monstrum’s products always delivered, held zero, didn’t break or malfunction, don’t drain batteries for no reason, etc.
The biggest shortcoming with Monstrum’s prisms in particular is optical clarity. I’ve seen what the good stuff looks like and now I’m spoiled.
But my favorite prism from monstrum so far has to be the Blackbird. Finally, a prism that doesn’t look stupid, isn’t fucking massive, or weigh as much as my house.
But there are a few major problems, the most obvious is the optical clarity, during the daytime it’s not much of an issue, but at night.. And that’s not the only night time issue. When you activate even the lowest amount of illumination in low light (exactly when you’d want illumination) not only does the reticle glow, but so does the entire piece of glass. Great, poor low light conditions just got even worse. On top of that, the "1x" modle looks a lot more like 0.7x, great for close quarters, but absolutely useless past 50 yards.
At this point I’m just gonna sell my damn car to buy an ACOG with an RMR because I’m sick of looking everywhere for a decent prism for less than a grand.
It would be really nice if my eyes weren’t fucked up so I could enjoy the glory of red dot sights and Eotechs with the rest of you lucky bastards. 😂
Try looking at the steiner t332 prism made in Germany and pretty sure it uses schott glass
You look like you annoy the shit out of coffee baristas with your orders.
Monstrum has decent products and would recommend 3x and 4x ruckus
Don’t worry young buck. You’ll get there.
